Susannah Coleman-Brown
Hello,
I’m based in Launceston, Lutruwita/Tasmania, and I’ve always loved to draw—any day, any time.
I grew up in the Huon Valley in southern Tasmania, and I still carry those early memories of drawing at my grandmother’s kitchen table, the smell of cooking in the air, or lying on the floor in front of the fire and TV at home with our pets close by. These days, not much has changed—I still draw often with my dogs, Nora the golden retriever and Molly the springer spaniel, usually not far away.
Drawing and writing are closely tied for me. I love the slow unfolding of characters and ideas on the page, even when it takes time to get there. As a highly sensitive person, drawing has always felt like a way of making sense of things—of paying attention, and staying connected.
My work often explores neurodiverse characters experiencing the world in vivid and particular ways. I’m interested in how we see differently, and what we might learn from each other, and from the natural world around us.
This space brings together my children’s illustration work and broader visual practice—public art, natural science drawing, and anything that doesn’t quite sit in a box.
I’m always open to enquiries about commissions or potential collaborations, so please contact me if you’d like to set up a chat.
Enjoy!
